Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim, President of Mansoura National University, chaired a meeting of the University’s Social Responsibility Council as part of the university’s commitment to strengthening its role in community engagement and advancing its social responsibility strategy.
The meeting was attended by Professor Walid Raslan, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Amr Abdel Aty, Head of the Gamasa City Council; Eng. Sayed Hammad, Head of the New Mansoura City Authority; and Professor Amr Gabr, Supervisor of the Social Responsibility Portfolio at the University.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized that Mansoura National University is firmly committed to its national and societal responsibilities and seeks to leverage its academic and research capabilities to serve the community through initiatives and development programs that address citizens’ needs and contribute to sustainable development.
Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim noted that the university organizes medical and veterinary outreach campaigns and contributes to scientific studies and environmental impact assessments related to the industrial zone, thereby supporting development efforts and environmental sustainability. He further emphasized that the university serves as a hub of scientific and consultancy expertise for Gamasa City, the industrial zone, and New Mansoura City, contributing its expertise to the development of visual identity projects, urban design initiatives, and scientific solutions to community challenges.
For his part, Dr. Amr Abdel Aty highlighted the university’s importance as a development partner and hub of expertise for executive institutions, noting that an agreement had been reached to collaborate with the university on preparing concepts and designs aimed at developing Gamasa City and enhancing its visual identity.
Eng. Sayed Hammad also stressed the importance of achieving effective integration between executive authorities and the university. He noted that cooperation with Mansoura National University represents a valuable contribution to the development of New Mansoura City and provides an opportunity to benefit from the university’s academic expertise across a range of development initiatives, particularly in the fields of urban planning, urban design, and visual enhancement.
Professor Amr Gabr reviewed the key topics discussed by the Council, including the establishment of a University Volunteerism Unit, the creation of an Alumni Follow-Up Office, the launch of a free veterinary outreach program, and the introduction of the “Mansoura National University Digital Bazaar” platform to support and empower students. Discussions also addressed a proposed collaboration with the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality in the field of carbon footprint assessment and support for national industries.
