Research Excellence Center Board Holds Its Inaugural Meeting at Mansoura National University to Develop a Strategic Roadmap for Advancing Research and Innovation
As part of Mansoura National University’s commitment to strengthening its research and innovation ecosystem and supporting emerging interdisciplinary fields, the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors of the Research Excellence Center was held under the chairmanship of Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim, President of the University, with the attendance of the Board members.
During the meeting, the University President reviewed the Center’s implementation plan for the period from June to December 2026, which aims to enhance research and technological infrastructure, strengthen the research capacities of researchers, faculty members, and students, and promote scientific collaboration and research partnerships with academic institutions at both the national and international levels.
The meeting also reviewed a series of specialized training programs and workshops scheduled for the Summer Term of the 2025–2026 academic year. These include the launch of the Bioinformatics Summer Program, designed to provide students and researchers with advanced training in bioinformatics, genomics, artificial intelligence, and biological data analysis.
Discussions further addressed a proposal to host the Microbial Genomics & Bioinformatics Workshop, an international workshop to be organized in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania and featuring the participation of leading experts in the field. The workshop is scheduled to be held at the university in July.
The Board also discussed plans for establishing and operating the Central Genomics Unit, including the development of the required infrastructure, scientific equipment, and high-performance computing platforms to support research activities and training across the university.
In addition, the meeting reviewed mechanisms for attracting qualified talent to ensure the efficient operation of the Center, as well as plans for developing research partnerships with universities and research institutions locally and internationally to support collaborative projects and expand funding opportunities.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of implementing the Center’s strategic plan in a manner that strengthens the university’s position as a hub for research excellence and innovation, while contributing to community development and supporting sustainable development goals.
